Severity Levels:
The levels of severity for potholes under 30 inches in diameter are based on both
the diameter and the depth of the pothole according to the following table.

If the pothole is over 30 inches in diameter, the area should be determined in
square feet and divided by 5 square feet to find the equivalent number of holes.
If the depth is 1 inch or less, they are considered medium severity. If the depth
is over 1 inch, they are considered high severity (figs B-48 through B-52).
