copper and silver ions are toxic to bacteria and algae. Performance envelopes are
ambiguous. There is also a potential for the copper and silver ions to plate out on mild
steel pipe, galvanized steel, and other metal surfaces, creating a galvanic corrosion cell
and resulting in pitting corrosion.
