5.19.7. Colors. White letters, arrows, rules and borders (reflectivity mandatory) on standard
green background (reflectivity desirable). To maintain visual consistency, individual sign
replacements or additions should continue with the established base standard. Since green is the
background color that the MUTCD has established for this sign type, every effort should be
made to comply if a base-wide direction sign replacement project is undertaken.
